Mr Musa Mbingo
Mr Musa Mbingo is the Managing Director of the Co-operative Financial Institute of South Africa (COFISA) Development Agency. He studied co-operative development in different countries including Malaysia where he obtained a certificate in co-operative development, Indonesia and Kenya. He is a graduate of the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town where he studied up to a post Graduate Diploma in Management (PDBA) and currently enrolled for a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with majors in accounting and auditing. He has been involved with Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) for over 10 years in various capacities which also include being the Chief Executive Officer of the Savings and Credit Co-operative League of South Africa (SACCOL) and also the Swaziland Association of Savings and Credit Co-operative SASCCO. His experiences also include training and facilitation and development of training material. He is currently involved in development of materials for registration with the Bank Seta for accreditation. His other experiences include banking, auditing and financial management.
Shirley Mathabathe
Shirley Mathabathe is the Programmes Co-ordinator and Head of Training and Development for COFISA. She started her career as a social worker having obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from the University of Fort Hare. After obtaining a Diploma in Business Management from Wits Business School, she decided to became a banker and worked for some of the biggest banks in South Africa which include First National Bank and Ned bank. In 2004 she moved into Development work and joined the Savings and Credit Co-operative League of South Africa (SACCOL) as a Development, Training and Compliance Manager. She has over 8 years experience in co-operative development. She also holds a Certificate in Co-operative Management and Development from Strathmore University in Kenya in 2008 and also holds a certificate in Microfinance Management from the University of Pretoria. She is highly involved in the development of training materials for COFISA
Waafa Abduraman
Waafa Abduraman is a highly experienced trainer and project manager having worked in co-operatives for more than 5 years. She was employed by the Savings and Credit co-operative League of South Africa as a Training and Development Manager. Her experience also includes development of training materials for accreditation and alignment of unit Standards to NQF requirements. She is also trained as an assessor. She has worked in Trade Unions to the level of branch secretary and negotiator. She has excellent facilitating skill. She holds a Diploma in Business Management and Administration from Damelin College, a Diploma in adult Education from the University of Cape Town and a Diploma in Advanced Project Management. Waafa is also the Managing Director and Founder member of a company called Qualitative HRD Solutions which specializes in Human Resources Training and Development.
Xolile Vilane
Xolile Vilane is a highly experienced co-operative trainer. She has been in co-operatives for over 10 years. Her experience is on capacity building of board members and managers, facilitation and development of strategic plans. She is a commercial teacher by training and has done studies on vocational training. She was a resource person for the Lutheran Development Services SACCOs, working together with the Church of Sweden. This responsibility included Preparing and developing training programs for regional workshops in collaboration with the regional coordinator, and the Micro finance advisor for Church of Sweden, facilitating Regional Micro finance workshops, and have conducting strategic plans in the Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Swaziland. She has also monitored the Southern Africa Lutheran Development Agencies Regional Network (SALDARN). She did her studies in Kenya, Tanzania and Swaziland.
Lungile Ndlovu
Ms Lungile Ndlovu is an experienced trainer for COFISA who has a very high level of knowledge in business and co-operative development. She has vast knowledge in co-operative development having worked for the apex body for savings and credit co-operatives in South Africa where she worked as a Development and Compliance Officer. She has also worked for a number of other different organisations which include banks, institutions of higher learning and has run her own franchise business. She Studied at the University of Natal- Durban in KZN and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Business administration. She is currently pursuing an Honours Degree in commerce specialising in Strategic Management and Project Management. She also holds a certificate in facilitation and training and a train the trainer certificate from the Institute of People Management.
